Cleavon Little (1939-1992) was an American actor known primarily for his comedic roles on stage, film, and television.
He is best remembered for his starring role as Sheriff Bart in Mel Brooks's satirical Western comedy film, Blazing Saddles (1974). This role cemented his status as a comedic icon.
Before Blazing Saddles, Little had roles in various stage productions including the musical Purlie, for which he won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 1970.
His television work includes appearances in shows like All in the Family, The Mod Squad, and his own short-lived sitcom, Temperatures Rising.
Little's career also included dramatic roles, demonstrating his versatility as an actor.
He died of colon cancer in 1992 at the age of 53.
